Bestbath curbed shower pans (21 sizes)
A 3 to 4 inch step-over curb keeps the water in without a door sweep. This is the fastest retrofit when the subfloor cannot be recessed and the bather can step, not roll. A seated version with a molded corner bench is available on request.

- Wall to wall at pan height, front, middle and back. Walls are rarely square and the pan has to drop between them.
- What is under the floor: slab, crawlspace or basement. It decides whether zero-threshold is a flush recess (framed floor) or a beveled edge (slab).
- Where the drain is now: center, left or right. Keeping it saves a day.
- Who bathes: a walker or shower chair can use a beveled edge; a wheelchair or a rolling shower chair wants zero-threshold; a step-in bather with a caregiver is fine with a curb.

What is the difference between a barrier free, curbed and code compliant shower pan?
A barrier free pan has a beveled front edge of about 3/4 inch or less so a wheelchair or rolling shower chair goes straight in. A curbed pan has a 3 to 4 inch step-over that keeps water in without a door sweep and is the easiest retrofit when the floor cannot be recessed. A code compliant pan is built to the ADA 2010 Standards and ANSI A117.1 dimensions: 60 inches by 30 inches clear inside for a roll-in, 36 by 36 for a transfer shower, with a threshold of 1/2 inch or less and factory backing for grab bars and a seat.
What sizes do shower pans come in?
We stock 20 barrier free sizes from 36 x 36 up to 78 x 48, 21 curbed sizes from 30 x 30 to 63 x 37, and 15 code compliant sizes from 40 x 38 to 72 x 48. The 60 x 30, 60 x 32 and 60 x 36 pans replace a standard bathtub. Custom sizes ship in a few weeks.
Can a shower pan be truly barrier free?
Yes. On a framed floor we drop the pan between the joists so the finished floor and the pan meet flush. On a slab we use a beveled-edge pan or ramp the floor with a 1:12 slope. Either way a wheelchair rolls in with no lip to catch a wheel.
Are these pans strong enough for a wheelchair or a bariatric bather?
Yes. The floor is gelcoat fiberglass over composite laminate with metal reinforcement and an integral wood level support, so it does not flex under a rolling chair, a bariatric bather or a caregiver. Every pan is rated for daily commercial use in care facilities.
Where can the drain go?
Center, left or right on most sizes, and a stainless trench drain along the back wall on the commercial code compliant pans. Moving a drain on a slab adds a day of concrete work; on a framed floor it is an easy plumbing change.
Do I need matching wall panels?
No. Every pan has an integral tile flange, so you can tile the walls or use any surround. Matching Bestbath wall kits are sized to each pan, arrive with plywood backing behind every square inch, and are what most of our one-day installs use.
How much does a shower pan cost?
